Things that make you go mmm

If you’re wondering what the “things” are in Eggs ‘N Things, they’re the steak, seafood and dessert options that turn the famed breakfast restaurant into a delicious all-day eatery. As for the eggs, well, they’re available all the time.

If you happen in for lunch or dinner, sink your teeth into the always tasty Chicken Fried Steak ($16.55). Way beyond ordinary beef patties, this popular menu item starts with New York steak that is pounded, breaded in a Ritz Crackers mix and pan-fried until golden brown. Topped with a thick beef gravy, it is served with white or brown rice, home-fried potatoes or buttermilk pancakes and a mixed green salad with pineapple balsamic vinaigrette. The classic diner staple is as good as it should be. The beef is tender and the gravy far from overpowering. And gluten-free dining is not a problem. In fact, one additional starch option is gluten-free, tri-colored potatoes, which are made up of sweet potatoes, yams and white potatoes.

Another unique but familiar protein to investigate is Local Style Pork Chops ($17.95). This thick-cut pork chop is coated in corn starch and pan-fried until it achieves a wonderfully textured light-brown color. The dish comes with the previously mentioned sides and a tangy guava ketchup sauce.

If you feel like rolling in more edible goodness, try the breakfast-meets-appetizer delight: Pigs in a Pancake ($8.95). It’s a real squeal! Here, link pork sausage is dipped in buttermilk pancake batter. The deep-fried, spring roll-style breakfast appetizer is served with a Hollandaise dipping sauce. Maple syrup is another available dip. Or, if you’re feeling really dip-happy, try ’em both.

One final item to consider is Corn Beef Hash Loco-Moco ($10.55). It’s a well-known off-the-menu item that has been available for years and at all three Eggs ‘N Things locations. Just ask for it or any of the other things on the menu that make you go mmm.
