A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: SPICY CHICKEN WINGS ($11.95 FULL ORDER, $7.95 SIDE ORDER)

Bring on the heat at Million Restaurant with a top-notch Korean meal. Open for dinner and late-night dining only, this Sheridan Street eatery offers a wide variety of traditional and local-style Korean fare.

Restaurant manager Diana Paik shares with Dining Out a fiery, sweet favorite that’s been flying off the menu. For those who enjoy a substantial meal with a kick, Million’s Spicy Chicken Wings hit the spot. These wings are so “finger lickin’ good!”

The pieces of chicken are evenly coated with Million’s homemade dry seasoning, which features a blend of mung beans, egg and a hint of salt. Then, chefs deep-fry the wings to a toasty, golden crisp.

“Locals and Koreans love our Spicy Chicken Wings,” Paik says. “There are plenty of requests for this dish, and it’s available from the time we open until closing.”

Sugar and spice, and everything nice. Once the chicken wings are deep-fried they are coated with a mouthwateringly zesty sweet and spicy sauce. “This sauce is our specialty. We combine pureed apple and pear with chili, ground peanuts and garlic. The texture is thick and sticky,” says Paik, noting that customers can opt for their chicken wings sans sauce if they choose.

“Million’s owner, Angela Park, learned about this dish while in Korea. It was so tasty that she decided to include it on our menu.”

The sweet and spicy chicken wings are stir-fried — all the zesty flavors of the sauce absorb into the meat.

The Spicy Chicken Wings entree is a match made in heaven when paired with a bowl of rice and banchan (side dishes).

Or, opt to enjoy the dish as an appetizer to share among friends.
