Chew On This Digest

December 15, 2013

Story By: Andy Beth Miller |

One of my best (or worst?) dating memories was when my boyfriend in college took me out for my first lobster. What I expected to be a super fancy meal at a five-star restaurant turned into something else entirely. Allow me to paint the scene: We dine, I am smitten, and as my beau takes in my stunning beauty — full-on bib with flecks of lobster guts glistening from my oh-so-carefully coiffed hair — a belly-born howl of hilarity ensued. I joined in, of course, and we ended up having a grand ole’ time.

This makes for a funny seafood story to be sure, but one lobster that is no laughing matter can be found at Lobster King. Featured this month is its Live Lobster ($14.95 per pound). Delivered fresh daily from the cool, clean waters of Alaska, the dish is defined by its delicious, tender texture; its flaky, flavorful consistency; and its rich, buttery character. Succulent and satisfying, it’s also a great deal for the price, and Lobster King is offering even more savings by serving up an $11.99 price tag per pound when the dish is purchased with any other regular entree.

Also featured is Lobster King’s Oyster Sashimi ($16.95). Light, delicious and just the right balance of flavor and simplicity, this Canada-caught seafood plate is immensely pleasing to the palate.

Enjoy dining on these two items or choose from a wide array of other options at the restaurant. And from now until the end of December, the Lobster King is offering a generous no corkage fee when bringing your own wine and beverages.

“This is a time for remembering loved ones and showing them your appreciation,” says owner June Stewart. “So for this month — until Dec. 31 — we are offering 10 percent off when customers purchase a gift card.” I’d say that’s one way to royally spoil your significant other this season!

Reservations are recommended, so as long as you call ahead, things should go swimmingly.
