Zippy’s Gets Festive With a Meal to be Thankful For

As the days get shorter, cooler temperatures creep in and holiday decorations begin to make their early appearances, one thing becomes apparent: Thanksgiving is right around the corner.

With less than two weeks remaining before Thanksgiving provides a respite from the daily grind, cravings for an indulgent meal of classics such as moist turkey covered in cranberry sauce with stuffing and mashed potatoes on the side begin to set it. And while thoughts of bringing family and friends together for the annual celebration provide much to look forward to, Thanksgiving can bring about moments of stress at times if hosts aren’t able to plan and coordinate for such a grand spread in time for Turkey Day.

Zippy’s is poised to assist with planning the perfect Thanksgiving feast by providing Meals to Go Packages, including Whole Turkey Package ($84.95 plus tax), which takes the hassle out of preparing a hearty Thanksgiving spread. The package includes: a 10-to-12 pound (cooked weight) refrigerated whole Butterball turkey that is fully cooked and easy to reheat; four pounds of Poultry Gravy; four pounds of Real Mashed Potatoes; three pounds of Stuffing; one pound of Cranberry/Pineapple Relish; and a dozen Sweet Dinner Rolls. A Half Turkey Package ($43.95 plus tax) is also available and includes: a 5to 6-pound (cooked weight) refrigerated half turkey that is fully cooked and easy to reheat; two pounds of Poultry Gravy; two pounds of Real Mashed Potatoes; 1 1/2 pounds of Stuffing; a 1/2 pound of Cranberry/Pineapple Relish; and six Sweet Dinner Rolls.

“It’s all about convenience — you can expect a stress-free Thanksgiving,” says Jeanine Mamiya-Kalahiki, marketing manager at Zippy’s Restaurants. “You determine the most convenient location to pick up your package on the eve before or day of at the time that best fits your schedule. If you pick up your package on Thanksgiving Day, all you do is drive through the designated pick-up area. There is no need to leave your car unless you want to pick up some of our fresh and delectable bakery items at Napoleon’s Bakery to top off your Thanksgiving meal.”

To aid in the preparation process, simple reheating instructions are provided — instead of spending all day toiling in the kitchen, one may have the entire meal prepared in an hour or two depending on the type of package selected. To sweeten the deal, each Meals to Go Package may be supplemented with a Pumpkin Pie or Custard Pie for an additional $7.95 (up to two pies per order).

A limited supply of the turkey packages is available on a preorder basis, and prepayment is required to place an order. Customers on Oahu may order their desired Thanksgiving meal option via the restaurant’s website, www.Zippys.com, and the preorders are also available by calling the Zippy’s Administration Office at 973-0880 now through Nov. 27 at 5 p.m. Phone orders are currently available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and orders may also be placed on Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Thanksgiving Meals to Go Packages are available for pick-up on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28 at Zippy’s McCully, Koko Marina, Kahala, Waipahu, Waiau, Wahiawa, Kapolei, Mililani, Kaneohe, Kailua, Kahului and Vineyard — a location that recently re-opened following renovations. Drive-through pick up will be available at all participating locations except for Koko Marina and Wahiawa. Customers are also reminded that prices are slightly higher at Zippy’s Kahului location, and the package prices are not valid with any discount cards, coupons or promotional offers.

In addition to offering the convenient meal packages, Zippy’s is also serving up special seasonal offerings Nov. 26 to 28 to coincide with Thanksgiving. Available options include Roast Turkey ($10.75 restaurant, $9.40 fast food counter), Baked Ham with Rum Raisin Sauce ($9.50 restaurant, $9.40 fast food counter), Roast Turkey and Baked Ham Combo ($11.90 restaurant only) and Grilled Salmon with Crab & Artichoke Sauce ($14.95 restaurant only). The special items are available from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the specified dates while supplies last. Customers are reminded that prices may vary at certain locations.

“For those who prefer an already-prepared hot meal, we offer specials that are long-time customer favorites,” says Mamiya-Kalahiki. “We see more and more customers ordering plates for the less fortunate, or companies ordering meals for employees who work over the holiday. Grilled Salmon with Crab & Artichoke Sauce seems to be a favorite option during the holidays.”
