We humans can be funny when it comes to food. Sometimes we know exactly what we’re craving, other times we revel in a variety of choices. Either way, Ho Ho Chinese Cuisine in Kapolei can make you happy.
We’re talking buffet here: $10.95 for lunch Monday-Friday and $12.95 Saturday and Sunday; $16.95 for dinner Monday-Thursday and $18.95 Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There are dozens of pupu, salads, stir-fries, entrees and desserts to entice you, including many of your all-time Chinese restaurant faves and the eatery’s big draw for the dinner buffet, all-you-can-eat crab legs.
“We don’t have a lot of vegetarians …” hesitates general manager James Ching when asked about meat-free dishes.
OK, put away the claws, veggie lovers. Don’t get all crabby now. This story has a happy ending.
Mr. Ching initially was concerned that folks might get the wrong idea about the buffet. But it’s good for business to let customers know that there’s something for everyone. Just let vegetarians know they’re welcome, then offer them some great-tasting food to bring them — plus their meatand seafood-eating friends and family — back for more!
So here are a couple of buffet line recommendations for vegetarians courtesy of Mr. Ching, who is looking forward to welcoming more and more vegetarian customers to Ho Ho.
Sichuan Eggplant is always a winner, and Ho Ho’s recipe is traditional, spicy but not too hot with a garlicky flavor and tender texture. If noodles rule for you, then you’ll go for the ever-popular comfort food Gon Lo Mein — a dry stir-fry with cabbage, carrots and bean sprouts mixed with the tender noodles. And there’s more.
With its friendly service, bountiful buffet, convenient Second City location and plenty of parking, just go Ho Ho.
