Catering to tasty get-togethers

Local diners who love local food have yet another place to go these days to satisfy their cravings: Local Food Express.

The restaurant offers the classic combination of Hawaiian, Asian and Ameri-can flavors served in large portions at affordable prices. That bargain extends to its catering menu, which includes 33 platters that virtually guarantee satisfied partygoers no matter what their preferences are. The choices include Chicken Katsu, Mochiko Chicken, Chow Mein Noodles, Barbecue Short Ribs, Garlic Shrimp, Barbecue Chicken, Kalua Pork, Laulau, Tossed Salads, Spring Rolls, Stir-Fry Vegetables and many more.

Prices vary depending on the menu item and amount necessary, of course, but as with the eatery’s plate lunches, the prices are affordable — especially now. Local Food Express is offering a $99 party plan large enough to feed 20. It also offers free delivery available for orders of more than $200, which is an easy amount to overcome for a party of any decent size.

Owner Mike Zhu recommends at least one day advanced ordering for any platter and two days for parties of 200 or larger.
