After 19 years, Boston’s North End Pizza Bakery continues to serve as Hawaii’s original home of the 19-inch, three-pound pizza in the heart of Kailua.

President Mike Bianchi built the pizzeria two decades ago on the “three pillars” of quality, quantity and price, and the same values serve as the foundation of the business today.

Boston’s North End Pizza still serves up “Hawaii’s Largest Slice,” which constitutes one fourth of the massive pizza pie. While others have attempted to capitalize on the “Boston’s” moniker, the Kailua locale has remained true to its original recipes and fresh ingredients.

“Over the last couple of years especially, we’ve really made an effort to inform our customers that Kailua is the one, only and original Boston’s North End Pizza Bakery that’s out there,” Bianchi says. “On the positive side, our original product has not changed. We use the best flour, fresh tomatoes — nothing from concentrate — the veggies are sliced fresh every day and the whole-milk mozzarella cheese is fresh, we don’t open up a frozen bag.”

The original Cheese Pizza ($20) can be supplemented with additional toppings ($1.75 each) including pepperoni, sausage, meatball, bacon, ham, chicken, mushrooms, spinach, garlic and pineapple. Those clamoring for more melting cheese may choose to add extra cheese for an additional $2.50.

Customers rave about Boston’s most popular pizza, Spinach & Garlic ($23.50), a bold flavor-packed combination that is synonymous with the original Pizza Bakery.

Three months ago, Bianchi revamped the menu to include even more specialty pizza options. Boston’s North End Pizza introduced an assortment of Chicken Pizzas ($28.95) including Buffalo Hot Wing Chicken Pizza, Chicken Alfredo Pizza, Chicken Cacciatore Pizza and even BBQ Chicken Pizza, a flavorful combination of juicy white chicken meat coupled with red onions, fresh mozzarella cheese, cilantro and a tangy barbecue sauce.

Shrimp Scampi ($28.95) is another new popular specialty creation, and just like its iconic pasta counterpart, the pizza boasts garlic, butter, olive oil sauce, mozzarella, parmesan and pecorino Romano cheeses surrounding juicy shrimp topped with fresh basil. It’s like taking a trip to Italy without leaving Kailua.

Bianchi and his friendly staff are constantly looking for new ways to satisfy customers, including adding flavorful Calzones ($5 apiece) including Italian Meatball Parmesan, Chicken Parmesan and the ever-popular Spinach, Garlic & Cheese. Boston’s North End Pizza also serves up fresh, healthy options such as Garden Salad ($2.99) and Chef Salad ($3.99), which is composed of hearts of romaine, cherry tomatoes, carrots, ham, cheese, black olives and mushrooms. The eatery even offers a special combo deal that provides customers with a calzone, salad and 22-ounce soft drink for just $6.

The popular pizza purveyor also provides free delivery to Kailua residents within the 96734 zip code, as well as those at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. The service allows customers the opportunity to enjoy freshly-made pies delivered right to one’s door without having to fork out any delivery fees or charges. Boston’s North End Pizza delivers hot, fresh pizza seven days a week, and as Bianchi says, “You want pizza, you call us.”

Back by popular demand, diners can take advantage of a special encore Hot Deals Hawaii offer that affords customers $35 worth of food and beverages for just $20. The deal is available Thursday, May 30 through Sunday, June 2 and is valid at the Kailua location only and does not apply to delivery orders. Once purchased, the deal may be redeemed through Oct. 26, 2013.

Keep an eye out for new Boston’s North End Pizza Bakery innovations, including outdoor barbecues every weekend. Also, in the near future, the eatery will offer new meat-filled Italian-style sandwiches and a network of satellite locations featuring temperature- and humidity-controlled warmers from which loyal customers may pick up their favorite pizza selections.
