Fans of Pho Five-O can credit their feedback and encouragement as inspiration for Kim Nguyen to open Hi Sandwich & Drink.

“I receive a lot of support from Five-O customers, so I want to say ‘thank you,'” shares owner Kim Nguyen who opened Hi Sandwich & Drink in December 2012.

The restaurant has 20 listed sandwich items on its menu, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t more. Served with French bread or a croissant, sandwiches can have up to three different meats in them ($6 for one choice, $6.50 for two choices and $6.75 for three choices).

One that Nguyen recommends is the Pastrami Sandwich ($6), which she recently added to the menu because it is leaner and has approximately 95 percent less fat.

Another is the Hi Special ($6.75), which includes three meats: steamed pork, pate and char siu pork.

Both sandwiches, like all that are offered, are served with cucumber and parsley, and carrots and white onion that Nguyen seasons daily with sugar and vinegar. If you’re a fan of the added crunch the veggies provide, and want more, all you have to do is ask; additional vegetables are free of charge.

As a dessert, try the Crazy Drink ($4.75), which is a combination of six items on the dessert menu. It features colored tapioca, mung bean, coconut milk, red bean, white bean, black bean, mixed fruit, color jellies, basil seed and jellies with coconut milk.

In addition to that, Hi Sandwich & Drink also offers an extensive selection of smoothies and bubble tea drinks, all made with fresh fruit versus powders, which are commonly used elsewhere, and tea that Nguyen brews daily.
