If you were to say “Thai food” and “Hawaii” in the same sentence, “Let’s go to Keo’s” would likely be the phrase that follows. That’s because restaurateur and chef Keo Sananikone has stood at the epicenter of Thai cuisine since 1977. His exotic, savory and authentic flavors have made Keo’s Thai Cuisine the largest and longest-running eatery of its kind in the state. His dishes also have garnered acclaim from countless notable publications as well as celebrities, politicians and even royalty.

Sananikone insists it’s not the glitz and glam that keeps regulars coming back for more. Instead, it’s the simplicity of fresh ingredients that gives his menu an outstanding reputation.

“It’s always been good Thai food that has made Keo’s popular among locals and tourists for the his own farm — prepared in traditional recipes is what gives the establishment its delicious factor.

If you haven’t been to Keo’s, this holiday season and New Year’s Eve is the perfect time to go because, in addition to its regular menu, the eatery is offering Complete Set Dinner specials featuring some of its best-selling menu items.

Set Dinner A ($34.95) presents a merry assortment of appetizers, salad, an entree choice and dessert. The culinary journey begins with Spring Rolls and Crispy Noodles followed by a green papaya salad.

Then choose from such tantalizing entrees as Cashew Nuts with Chicken or Garlic Beef with Mushrooms.

Also on the special menu is the restaurant’s most famous dish, Evil Jungle Prince with chicken. This mystifying red curry combines creamy coconut milk with beautiful herbs and spices for a flavor that is the epitome of Thai curry.

Deluxe Set Dinner B ($39.95) also features appetizers, salad, an entree and dessert, but it is a seafood-lover’s dream come true. For the main course, diners may choose from Evil Jungle Prince with shrimp, Seafood Medley, Crispy Fish or a Green Vegetarian Curry.

Keo suggests trying the devourable Seafood Medley prepared with a spicy sweet-and-sour sauce as well as mixed vegetables. You won’t go wrong with Crispy Fish either, which you can dress up with a hot Thai red curry suace, spicy fresh basil and chili sauce or mild garlic shiitake mushroom sauce.

Keo’s holiday specials include Jasmine, white or brown rice on the side, and for dessert, choose from Thai Tapioca pudding or ice cream.

While these set dinners are only available during the holidays, rest assured knowing you can experience the magic of these dishes year-round on Keo’s regular menu.
