Patisserie La Palme D’or defines sweet decadence. Conveniently situated in Ala Moana Center, Patisserie La Palme D’or is best known for its Japanese pastry concept, which owner Hiromi Tanaka brought over from Mie, Japan. Tanaka hired Akiko Kimura as head chef, and Kimura possesses a talent to create remarkable flavors with immaculate presentation to match. Kimura admits that a variety of her works of art are derived from her own personal recipes.
And just in time for the holidays, Patisserie La Palme D’or is hopping on Santa’s sleigh and offering its Bush de Noel Strawberry ($28, extra-small serves four; $38, small serves six; $48, medium serves eight) and Bush de Noel Chocolate ($30, extra-small serves 4; $40, small serves 6; $50, medium serves 8) Christmas Cakes.
Both cakes will immediately grab hold of your sweet tooth. Bush de Noel Strawberry features a strawberry sponge cake filled with strawberry cream and jelly, and evenly coated with fresh whipped cream. Bush de Noel Chocolate is every chocolate-lover’s dream as it presents a delicious chocolate sponge cake enhanced with chocolate cream and surrounded by whipped cream.
“Decorations may vary between individual cakes, but they are all Christmas themed,” Kimura says, noting that orders will be accepted until Dec. 17, and patrons are asked to pick up their cakes from Dec. 22 to Dec. 24.
“Starting Dec. 8 we will be extending our store hours from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Our Christmas Eve hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and we are closed on Christmas Day,” Tanaka adds.
In addition to its holiday treats, Patisserie La Palme D’or shines the spotlight on its Lemon Lilikoi Tart. Priced at $4 each, this highly requested dessert is played up with local flair as it showcases a silky lemon curd with a hint of lilikoi tartlet topped with fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and cream.
