Chai’s Island Bistro deserves a standing ovation for its spectacular Pacific Rim cuisine, and celebrity owner and chef Chai Chaowasaree also knows how to render a round of applause from his guests — not only for his award-winning fare, but also for bringing in some of Hawaii’s top entertainers to perform at his Aloha Tower Marketplace restaurant.

Na Hoku Hanohano award-winner Danny Couch is set to take the stage every Saturday evening at 7 p.m. Best known for his hit song, These Islands, which captivated the world as the theme song for the 1998 Miss Universe Pageant, Couch has been perfecting his heavenly voice since the age of 12.

“Danny is one of the most personable entertainers that I know. He’s super friendly and always says hello to guests,” Chaowasaree says. “You can request any song and he will sing it for you. And be sure to request the song These Islands. I never tire of it and the song says so much about who we are.”

Throughout the years as a acclaimed vocalist, Couch also has had the privilege of performing for such stars as Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Englebert Humperdinck and more.
