Chef Chai Chaowasaree, owner and chef of Singha Thai Cuisine in Waikiki and Chai’s Island Bistro at Aloha Tower Marketplace is renowned for his exotic fare that emphasizes flavors of the Pacific Rim. Known for fusing fresh, local ingredients with the eclectic flair of Asia, Chaowasaree’s cuisine is a true representation of our island home.

Most recently, Chaowasaree entered Aloette Cheese Master Holiday Chef Challenge. As a part of this challenge, Chaowasaree is up against 13 other chefs from across the nation who also hope to win the coveted prize of $20,000 cash and various promotions.

“We had to submit recipes, and the winner will be determined by a panel of judges and online votes from the public,” Chaowasaree says. “I’m very excited to be a part of this challenge and the only chef from Hawaii.”

As one of Hawaii’s top regional cuisine chefs, Chaowasaree is hoping that the public will vote for his four recepies: Baked Brie with Caramelized Pineapple in a Phyllo Pouch (appetizer), Breast of Turkey Roulade with Leek Fennel Gravy and Mashed Kabocha Pumpkins (entree), Mashed Kabocha Pumpkins (side) and Mango Goat Cheesecake with Ginger Cookie Crust (dessert).

“If I win, it will truly be an honor,” Chaowasaree exclaims. “I’ll use 100 percent of the money to donate to several charities, such as Toys for Tots, HUGS Hawaii and IHS.”

You may vote for Chaowasaree once a day from now to Dec. 15 by visiting masterholidaychef.com/chefs/chaichaowasaree.
