Kobe Steak House is famous for its steaks and seafood, and, of course, the exciting table-side teppanyaki-style dining and tricks of preparation.

But Kobe also offers a top-quality sushi bar, and about a year-and-a-half ago transformed its holding area to the Kobe Lounge offering a pupu menu of local favorites such as Miso Soup, Tofu, Sweet Potato Fries, Soybeans, Poke, Fried Chicken and Mini Lumpia. A must-try are Garlic Pork Chops ($13), which are not overly seasoned with garlic and has just the perfect amount of flavor that is showcased in the meat.

The sushi bar is located in the lounge, and features your traditional ngiri and rolls, including the popular Sixty-Nine Roll ($18), which is a California roll topped with unagi (eel) and unagi sauce, and the Rainbow Roll ($15), which is a California roll topped with a combination of fresh ahi, hamachi, avocado and salmon. For a limited time, Kobe is offering 20 percent off sushi items ordered in the lounge between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. There also are happy hour drink specials daily.

With an intimate, relaxed setting, the Kobe Lounge is the perfect place to unwind, and enjoy great sushi and pupu-style foods. Conveniently located on Ala Moana Boulevard, just before Hilton Hawaiian Village, simply pull up to the valet and step in for a great dining experience.
