No matter the occasion, Larry’s Bakery brings festivity to any get-together with its wide assortment of celebratory cakes, cookies, cupcakes and more. Brother-and-sister duo Lance and Iris Yafuso continue to run the family business that their late father, Larry, once started in Waimalu during the 1960s.

Today, his legacy lives on at the mom-and-pop bakery’s current location on Lawehana Street, where special events are made that much sweeter, thanks to Larry’s homemade goods. With graduation season upon us, decorative chocolate, butter, white chantilly and dobash Graduation Cakes ($49.95, 1/4 sheet; other sizes available) may be customized for your scholar with maile and pikake lei and school-colored adornments.

Graduation cookie lei ($20), Deluxe lei ($25) and Cookie or Brownie Lanyards ($7.95, $4.95 respectively) also brighten the celebration.

In the friendly fashion of this charming hole-in-the-wall, one of its most exciting gift baskets — Cupcake bouquets ($34.95) — just got even more thrilling with the help of Iris’ longtime friend and florist, Lisa Barretto.

“We’ve known each other since seventh grade,” says Iris, “so we wanted to make something together.”

The pair created a Cupcake bouquet with fresh flowers ($50), blossoming with buttercream frosted vanilla, chocolate or red velvet cupcakes and pastel or red spring blooms. “This is our first time doing the flower bouquet. You can use it as a centerpiece,” describes Iris.

In addition to the scrumptious flower arrangement, the bakery’s goodie-filled Mother’s Day Purses ($12.95 and up) will make May 13 unforgettable.

And when stopping by for all your essential party favors, be sure to try some of Larry’s warm pastries, made in-house daily.

Halfmoons ($1.65 each) present mouthwatering pie crust-like shells oozing with delectable apple and coconut centers. “This is my dad’s recipe. It’s baked and it’s kind of like a mini pie,” says Iris.

Once you taste every ounce of love that goes into the sweet sensations at Larry’s Bakery, your next family gathering, holiday or routine Monday won’t be the same without them.
