As soon as JJ Luangkhot debuted his Chef’s Tasting Menu ($28 per person) as part of JJ’s Bistro & French Pastry’s Easter special, it was an instant hit among holiday diners. The owner and executive pastry chef has served his captivating five-course meal ever since, with a few more devourable bites added to the menu.

The “fine-dining experience without the high price,” as Luangkhot describes it, begins with soup or salad, followed by a Trio of Appetizers. Bitesized pieces of heavenly Baked Lobster Avocado, Crab Rangoon and Smoked Salmon Roulade excite your palate from the start.

“I just wanted to create more things like tapas, with little tastes of fish and meat,” describes Luangkhot of his tasting-menu inspiration.

The culinary journey continues with entrees, where diners delve into a selection of seafood masterpieces from Opaka Fettuccini to Baked Salmon Wellington.

Then, venture into the finest of meat courses such as Pan Seared Pork Tenderloin with Cauliflower Sauce — one of the chef’s favorites. “The cauliflower sauce is very unique tasting and simple,” says Luangkhot of the creamily suave adornment to juicy pork and mashed potatoes.

Two complete tasting menus are available, and customers may pick and choose between both selections of appetizers and entrees to customize their meal.

End the delectable odyssey with a touch of sweetness. “Dessert is the most important part because it’s the last bite,” say Luangkhot, who developed all 45 of the bistro’s famous desserts.
