For authentic Japanese cuisine, you need look no farther than South King Street, where Sushi King reigns supreme.

The busy eatery is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and even offers a midnight special after 10:30 p.m. for all you late-night noshers. The restaurant boasts a huge menu of Japanese favorites, including its namesake: a myriad of sushi selections from a la carte nigiri and rolls to daily selections at the sushi bar. And yes, most do include fish, but not to worry, there are some enticing vegetarian offerings here as well, including ever-popular Vegetable Tempura ($16.95), a large, a la carte portion of crisp-tender carrots, broccoli, eggplant, zucchini and sweet potatoes perfect for sharing. If you’re going in alone, a half portion is only $9.50, and it’s still a generous plateful.

Hungry for a complete meal? You also can order the full dinner ($22.95), which adds chiso, nori, mushrooms and more and is served with an appetizer, salad, tonjiru miso soup, rice and pickles. It’s a meal fit for a … well, you know.

When it comes to Japanese food, you’ll savor the real thing at Sushi King.
