Pay a visit to Ichiriki on any given day, and you’ll be greeted by the hustle and bustle of diners who can’t wait to sample the famous nabe, which the eatery is known for. The alluring aroma of flavorful cuisine and lulling chatter of patrons having a good time will definitely work up appetite.

The restaurant opened the doors to its first location on Piikoi Street in 2006, and opened its second location this past June in Westridge, Aiea. Both have garnered much success.

“The concept of Ichiriki is simple: Make our customers happy,” says co-owner Issei Kazama. “We serve Japanese nabe (hot pot) including more than a dozen original ones, along with traditional shabu shabu and sukiyaki. Our food is very healthy, as we don’t use any grease when it comes to our nabe, and most of the nabe consists of many different vegetables.”

Simply put, Ichiriki prides itself on wonderful food with great service to match. So, the next time you find yourself at this premier Japanese restaurant, Chew On This: Seafood Kami Nabe ($59.95 for two people) and Sukiyaki Bento ($7.95).

Seafood Kami Nabe is a must-have for any seafood lover. This nabe features snow crab legs, jumbo-sized shrimp, calamari, salmon and scallops.

“Combine the seafood with bountiful portions of vegetables, and have yourself a little party at your table,” Kazama exclaims. “It is cooked in our paper pot, so a lot of oil from the seafood gets absorbed into the paper and not your belly,” he adds, noting that the nabe comes complete with rice and two orders of udon or ramen noodles at the end of the meal to help you savor the delicious shoyu broth.

For people on-the-go, Sukiyaki Bento is the perfect choice. In fact, Kazama says this tatsy bento is the takeout option of the restaurant’s very popular sukiyaki.

“We recently just started offering this bento that consists of beef sukiyaki with our homemade tsukune meatballs and some seasonal vegetables,” he says. Sukiyaki Bento is available daily from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at both locations, and if you purchase four, you get one free.

“We also offer some great discounts on our Facebook page (facebook.com/nabeman) every week!”

Treat yourself to healthy, fresh and alluring flavors at Ichiriki.
