Tee Up Good Times at Ige’s

Golfers know that an ice-cold beverage and satisfying meal following a round on the links makes for a perfect combination. Whether lamenting a rough outing, or recounting superb shots that get better and better with each round of brews, gathering at the “19th Hole” has become a necessary golfing tradition.

Therein lies the motivation behind Ige’s Restaurant and 19th Puka lounge in Aiea, just down the road from Pearl Country Club. As owner Ron Ige accounts on the eatery’s website, the premise was born after he and family members would routinely gather for drinks and pupus after playing golf. Fortunately for customers, it means a great spot to enjoy ono pupus regardless if one plays golf or not.

The Lechon Kawali ($10.99) is a favorite among dedicated diners, and offers crispy pork belly specially cooked along with tomatoes, onions, shoyu and vinegar.

Customers also come back for Collopop’s Crab Cakes ($12.99), made with real pieces of juicy crab, water chestnuts, onions and celery and served with a sweet chili aioli. Sticking with seafood, the Calamari Steak Strips ($9.99) feature freshly breaded calamari served with a homemade cocktail sauce.

Stop by Ige’s and take advantage of Happy Hour all day Mondays, and Tuesday through Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. Enjoy $1 off bottled and draft beers, and order up a pitcher of domestic or imported beer for $13 and $16.75, respectively.

Ige’s also offers live entertainment throughout the week, and hosts live University of Hawaii football broadcasts throughout the season.
