Owners Don and Kyoko Akiyama combine the best of both worlds with the Tropical Cheesecake Trio Mochi, a recent innovation that Don describes as a marriage of Made in Hawaii Foods’ most popular fruit spreads and cheesecake mochi.

Sold for $7.50, the Tropical Cheesecake Trio Mochi features Lilikoi Cheesecake Mochi, Poha Berry Cheesecake Mochi and Pineapple Blueberry Cheesecake Mochi.

“Lilikoi Cheesecake Mochi is made with lilikoi butter drizzled over a piece of fresh cheesecake, then wrapped in soft, chewy mochi,” Don explains. “The process is the same for both the Poha Berry Cheesecake Mochi and Pineapple Blueberry Cheesecake Mochi the result is a tasty trio of broke the mouth goodness!”

Island Preserves products also are available for purchase at Made in Hawaii Foods on South Beretania Street in Moiliili and on Moanalua Road in Pearl City.

“The preserves are made at our Pearl City location,” Kyoko explains. “We have more than 35 varieties of jams and jellies, and Don loves to create new flavors all the time.”

Now, if irresistible mochi is what you desire, the top-seller in the establishment’s mochi line is the Fresh Strawberry Mochi ($5.95 two pack with red bean, $6.95 three pack with red bean, $8.50 two pack with milk chocolate, $9.50 two pack with dark chocolate) utilizing fresh Maui strawberries from Kula Country Farms.

“The strawberries are flown in twice a week to ensure a fresh product,” Don says. “Each berry is covered in red bean and wrapped in mochi, or for those chocoholics, the strawberries are covered in rich milk or dark chocolate and then wrapped in our soft mochi.”

Being that everything here is made by hand using fresh ingredients, mochi quantities are limited. It’s recommended to place your order as soon as possible to ensure the best selection.
