Whether you are in the mood for breakfast, lunch or dinner, Happy Day Chinese Seafood Restaurant — a staple in Kaimuki for the past 11 years — offers a seemingly endless menu of traditional Hong Kong-style Cantonese meals that include soups, seafood, noodles dishes and dim sum.

Two noteworthy dishes that display the quality and delightful taste of Happy Day are the restaurant’s Orange Chicken and Barbecue Roast Pork — both served a la carte for $9.95.

“The Orange Chicken is covered in our sweet and sour sauce and gently stir-fried, and it’s very juicy,” says manager Lisa Lum. “All of our customers like the Orange Chicken. Ninety percent of people who come in get it.”

But it’s the Barbecue Roast Pork that’s known to attract those guests craving a bit of char siu heaven, from near and far.

“Our char siu is very good and our customers come all the way from Mililani and Aiea to get it,” Lum says. “We have very good customers.”

Diners, of course, know of the restaurant’s excellent reputation. Earlier this year, Happy Day captured the Overall Excellence Award at the seventh annual Top 100 Chinese Restaurants Award Show.
