JJ Luangkhot, the award-winning executive chef and owner of JJ’s Bistro & French Pastry, has been tempting Hawaii’s foodies with exquisite European desserts and pastries for decades. With 45 dessert items, ranging from the renowned Chocolate Pyramid, Red Velvet Cake and Chocolate Fruit Basket, to Chocolate Lilikoi and Banana Haupia, how could life be any sweeter?
To answer that question, Dining Out recently paid a visit to JJ’s Bistro & French Pastry on Waialae Avenue. There, we found friends Joanne Muraoka and Linda Anderson, who were eager to share just what satisfies their sweet tooth.
Anderson: “I’ve been here several times. I pretend I come back for the vegetarian dishes, but I really come back for the desserts (laughs). The desserts are wonderful! They’re a work of art that we love to eat.”
Muraoka: “The food is really good here. We’re sharing the Blueberry Cheesecake ($3.95), the Chocolate Eclair ($1.75) and the Black Currant Cassis ($4.50), which is very refreshing.”
