Story By: Dining Out Team |

Hinone Mizunone is ever bustling with loyal customers during its usual lunchtime rush, when diners can’t seem to wait to grab a bite of Teishoku lunches, Japanese curry, udon, and curry and udon combos.

This Japanese family-friendly restaurant is owned by Japanese restaurant giant Fujio Food Systems, and opened its first American location in April 2008 on South King Street.

Wanting to see what all the hype was about, Dining Out recently paid a visit to Hinone Mizunone. There, we found customers Lillian Nishimura and Meg Uehara, who were more than happy to share their menu recommendations with us.

Lillian Nishimura: “We come here quite often and we enjoy it. I ordered the Tonkatsu (Pork Katsu) with Oroshi-Ponzu Teishoku ($10.50). All teishoku is served with rice, miso soup, two side dishes and Japanese pickles. “The customer service is great here and they attend to all of your needs.”

Meg Uehara: “I got the Chicken ‘Ama-Kara Age’ teishoku ($10.50). I love the rice and the ginger sauce first of all; it tastes really, really good.”
